*Raku–a Western tradition kiln fire process based on Eastern custom. Each item is removed from the kiln at bright red heat and subjected to post-firing reduction (smoking). Once placed in containers of combustible materials areas of bare clay are blackened, the glaze crazes, and a metallic finish is produced.
